About me

Pianist Jihyun Oh was born in Seoul, Korea. As a concert pianist, she was the First Prize winner of the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition and the Korea-Germany Music Competition, the Second Prize winner of the Busan Music Competition, and a finalist at Internationaler Jugend Pianisten Wettbewerb in Germany. She has been featured in several live performances on Kansas Public Radio.

Dr. Oh has been invited to play in numerous venues including Teatro Petrarca, Palazzo Ducale di Lucca, Solitaer, Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic Concert Hall, Youngsan Yangjae Hall, Yongsan Grace Hall. She has also performed with the Bad Reichenhall Orchestra in Germany and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed in masterclasses with Emmanuel Ax, Boris Berman, Eguchi Fumico, Jonathan Feldman, and Margo Garrett.

With a passion for collaborative piano, she earned a Collaborative piano Graduate Assistantship at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she received the Joanne Baker Piano Scholarship. Her collaborative piano GA at UMKC included work with instrumentalists, vocalists, living composers, and the opera program. Also, she was a participant in the Puerto Rico Center Collaborative Piano Festival and a fellow at the Music Academy of the West and Aspen Music Festival.

Dr. Oh earned her bachelor's degree at Seoul National University in Korea with Prof. Jonghwa Park and finished Klavier Master Solistenausbildung and Postgraduate at Mozarteum University in Austria with Prof. Pietro De Maria. Then she earned her DMA at UMKC in the US where she studied with Dr. Thomas Rosenkranz, Dr. Robert Weirich, and Dr. Karen Savage. After studying solo piano performance, Dr. Oh is pursuing Graduate Diploma in Collaborative Piano at Juilliard School with Prof. Jonathan Feldman.

She loves to read with a cup of fruit tea and chat with dearest people.
